Headed by our level 2 coaches, Ann O’Rourke and Dionne Williams our junior section has members ranging from ages 6 to 15. Training sessions are held weekly and term time only in the Sports Hall at Stockland Green School.
The netball journey begins with our stage 1 sessions which are a fun introduction to basic skills of coordination, throwing and catching. Our members progress through 5 stages on the junior pathway:
Stage 1 (ages 6-10, including tasters for years 2-5)
Wednesdays: 6.00-7.00 pm
Stage 2 (ages 11-13, including tasters for years 6-8)
Tuesdays: 6.00-7.30 pm
Stage 3 (ages 11-13 progression from Stage 2)
Tuesdays: 7.30-9.00 pm
Stage 4 & 5 (ages 13-16 including tasters for U16s)
Match play comes in the form of friendly practice games and we enter a number of teams in local leagues both in Birmingham and Walsall. The Birmingham league is played on Sundays from Feb-July. We would like to invite girls from Year 6 to Year 10 to join our teams playing in the Birmingham Intermediate League from January. Anyone interested should contact the club to arrange a taster session to see if they would like to be part of our friendly club which welcomes girls of all abilities who love netball.
In addition, each season we put together a squad to represent the Club at county wide Under 14 and Under 16 competitions where the teams have the opportunity to go forward to compete and regional and, if successful, national level.
In addition to regular league matches, during the summer we also take our junior teams to one off tournaments and a residential trip to an organised netball weekend.
Coaches Ann and Dionne are assisted by our talented and enthusiastic Level 1 coaches Adam Garrad, Ann Marie Maylor and Diana Harris.
Please contact the club secretary to arrange taster sessions via email at: email@example.com
